New Coral Shade: Soho

29 Jan

Okay, so I was supposed to buy Guerlain’s L’heure Bleu today as my monthly make-up fix,  but I was swayed by this pretty coral shade from Paul & Joe. I’ve been planning of buying the Guerlain lipstick for a few weeks now since it’s this gorgeous shade of bluish red. Then again, I wouldn’t be able to use it much unless I go out for parties. Red is such a bold color and it is quite impractical for a student like me to wear. This is why I chose this limited edition Paul & Joe lipstick. First of all, it’s coral…my favorite shade and it’s the shade that’s most flattering on my skin tone. Next, is…because of the cute packaging! It even has flowers engraved on the lipstick itself…so pretty. Don’t you just NOT want to use it?

This shade is called “Soho” from the Paul & Joe Manhattan Fall 2011 collection. There are three shades of lipstick in the collection, Lower East Side (Sepia Brown), Uptown Girl (soft coral) and Soho (bright coral).

I simply couldn’t resist getting this shade of coral because it has a lot of tangerine in it. Getting a coral shade with the right amount of orange is hard to find. Also, I love how it is bright enough, but it isn’t completely attention-seeking.

Here’s a comparison between my other coral lipsticks:

L-R: Revlon’s Strawberry Sundae, NARS Heat Wave, Paul & Joe Soho
Revlon’s Strawberry Sundae is more pinkish than orange while NARS Heat Wave is a  red-orange shade. Soho just strikes a balance between the two. As for the finish, both Strawberry Sundae and Heat Wave are matte while Soho has a satin finish.

Soho is quite sheer, but it has a lot of color in it. It glides on well and it’s perfect for daytime!

hahaha….
Yes, I am THAT passionate about this particular coral shade!

Okay…bye now!
