Pockets take a peek

28 May

I’ve been seeing lots of girls lately wearing shorts with peeking pockets. I even wonder whether they do it on purpose or not.

I find this phenomenon quite odd. Since the pockets are showing off already, it must mean that the shorts are too short already. I personally don’t find it cool, but it may seem appealing if you’re going for that hipster/chill vibe.

These shorts could be found on celebrities such as Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth and Agyness Deyn. It has this breezy and laid back vibe to it. It’s good for  a summer look, but would you consider it as a trend?

Somehow, some designer from Gap thought that it would be a great idea to carry these shorts with peeking pockets as a design. Seriously?

Here’s proof.

Gap named these shorts, the “Cleo.” It is sold in stores for $50.                              First thing’s first, would you actually shell out that much for  a D.I.Y. sort of look? Shorts have peeking pockets because of wear and tear or just by plain mistake. Now, some genius thought that it would be cool to actually have peeking pockets on purpose. Then again, people may get accustomed to this look the same way they got accustomed to the whole ripped jeans look. The whole deconstructed and distressed look seems to be getting weirder and weirder. It becomes so weird, that it gets accepted as a Fashion norm. I remember my uncle complaining to me how he used to be laughed at for having rips in his jeans while it is considered cool nowadays. Fashion, you humor me!

Tell me, would you shell out money for these shorts the same way you’d shell out for those acid-washed distressed denims? Also, is this look a yay or a nay?
